Thanks, Mike and Jeannie

Mike Rosenberger and his lovely wife Jeannie are sending out reunion letters to everyone this weekend. Their efforts are appreciated.

I just talked to Sean Garvey on the phone. He's living in Mesa, Arizona. He and Patty are selling topless sandals for Bobbie (Roberta McGhee) at the Mesa Swap meet. He says they play golf and drink beer when they aren't selling sandals. Sean will be at the reunion with his golf clubs, so look out.

I may see Sean when my mother and I go to Phoenix in a couple of weeks.

Iz anybody out there?

Okay, I'm getting discouraged. After a few brave souls gave this blog idea a try, it has remained idle except for my occasional posts. Anyway, if you're one of those "blurkers" out there (blurkers are those who read blogs but never comment), and know anything about the folks listed in the previous post (below), send me some info. malove@imbris.net

The class-reunion committee is meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, at 5:30 p.m at Di Luna's Restaurant. We'll be sending out the first print notice of the reunion after that meeting. So, if you can help us with those names, please do so in the next 24 hours.

Thanks for your help.

Marianne

from China--Maurine (Marks) Wheatley

Maurine asked me to post her email. She's looking forward to hearing from classmates; her email address is listed below.

We are more than loving this experience. We love the people and have learned to appreciate the
freedoms of choices that good Ole America offers to each of us. ( I'll even put up with Michael Moore, as long as the rest of us have equal time to speak our thoughts!)

Well, now before I get too political....I'll send this off.

We will be back in the states early July. Our plans are to go to
Charlotte, NC, where three of our six children and families live (A fourth
is right up the road in VA, about an hour. The other two are not permanent anywhere yet) and buy a new home or have one built. We call Charlotte, the northern Idaho part of North Carolina. We sold our family home in
Fayetteville, so we are currently homeless.

I just wrote a note to myself this a.m. to e-mail Avis asking about class
reunion. Keep me posted. I will be glad to help anyway I
can............Maurine wheatleyctp@hotmail.com

OK, Maryanne, You keep making me feel guilty, so I'll Try it!

It's great seeing this come into being.

Even though I only spent one year in school in SHS, I was there long enough to develop some very deep roots into the area, and running into Marianne over the years has been VERY enjoyable.
Mary Irene Peine (SHS Class of '66) and I married in 1968 and we just graduated our youngest daughter from Coeur d'Alene High School this past May and celebrated our 36th wedding anniversary in November. We have four sons and four daughters, and they are spread all over the map, from Sacramento California & Bellingham Washington to Tampa Florida, Atlanta, GA, and Lakenheath AFB in England, and many points in between. They have given us 8 grand children who have taught us that having grandkids is so great, we should have skipped the intermediate stage & gone direct to the grandkids.

We have lived in Coeur d'Alene since 1981, and have many relatives still in the Sandpoint ares, so it has been fun watching the place change over the years.

We are looking forward to the 40th Anniversary reunion this summer, even though I have trouble believing that it has been that many years... This happens to other people, not me.

I hope many post here, so we can catch up.

Cold Blogging Judy Finley Christensen - jchriste@wavecable.com

Marianne is still the same character I met in 1958/59 at Lincoln Elementary - only I enjoy you much more now than I did then, Marianne.

Life is so exciting for me these days. My husband and I began building a small cabin across and up the river from Clark Fork last year. We were so excited that we couldn't wait for the plumbing, insulation and heat. We just "camped out" in the loft and worked on it between the holidays. It was quite cold but we accomplished alot and got out to see the beautiful snowy scenery when some friends from home (Washington State) visited us. Of course they stayed in beautiful downtown Clark Fork since their bedroom isn't finished. Can't wait to hit the lake and tour the mountains back home.

I am counting down my days to retirement, which will coincide with the birth of my first granddaughter and my birthday this year. I know some of you are probably already retired, but I got an early start on child raising and a late start on a career. I love to work and play hard, and can hardly wait until I have more time to do it all

Life is sooooo wonderful as I have also been asked by a niece to be with her during delivery of her first child, probably Tuesday. Her mother, my sister-in-law, passed away from pancreatic cancer 1 1/2 years ago.

There is always so much to talk about over a 40+ year period of one's life. I look forward to more of you joining the bleak Blog to make it the blah-blah-blog.

bleak blog --- marianne --- malove@imbris.net

Hi,
I've been to Boise and back since my last posting. Have also been up to my ears in story deadlines. I guess this blog hasn't conjured up much interest.

If you've at least been checking in, drop me a line and let me know. Also, if you think it's worth it, even if you can't figure out how to post items, I'd like to know that also.

In the meantime, I invite classmates to my personal blog at www.slightdetour.blogspot.com and to my website at www.mariannelove.com. The blog gets updated every day; the website, whenever a new story hits the streets in a publication.

See Ruthann and Gretta at Schweitzer

http://www.sandpointonline.com/sandpointmag/smw04/index.html
Click the following link, and you'll see a picture of Ruthann and Gretta from a long time ago.

Yea, Kerphlapsee!

Kip,

You receive a star, and, as promised, the first couple of brave souls to join the blog will receive a prize----your choice of my three books, of which the third is almost completed. Personally autographed, of course!

Happy blogging!!!

Marianne

It Works

Thanks, Marianne. I think I'm blogging now.
Kip

Welcome, Kip . . . by Marianne

Good to hear from Kip Phelps, who's living in the Portland area. You'll see his comments appearing in the "comments" section at the bottom of the Jan. 7 entry "If yer scared to blog . . . . "

I've found this can be confusing to first-time users. Have added some additional information with Kip's comments, so read through them and give it a try.

I think the fact that I use Mozilla Firefox as my browser rather than Internet Explorer may cause a few slight differences in the posting procedure. But, hang in there and keep trying; millions of other bloggers around the world have figured it out, so we can too.

Happy Saturday from blustery North Idaho.

Marianne

If yer scared to blog . . . . marianne

Howdy,
Ruthann and I are looking for some action, so here's another option if you've been checking in but a bit nervous about going through the posting process.

We just want to know that you're here, so go to the bottom of any daily posting to the "comments" section. Click on it. Then, you'll be asked for your user name which is shs1965 and your password, which is straley. Type those in the boxes and then click "post a comment" and start writing in the little box.

If you have something to say and don't know how to post it, send it to me by email, and I'll see that it gets on the blog with your name and email address.

I'll do this for anyone at any time. My address is malove@imbris.net.

Finally, if you spend some time figuring it out, you'll find that the process for posting is pretty simple. Hope to hear from you some way.
Marianne

Hi, It's Ruthann once again ......skamokaway@aol.com

Guess I'll have to get the ole Monticola out and freshen up the memory. It will be so fun to get caught up with everyone. The last reunion I was to was our 20th. Wow that was another 20yrs past. Amazing how things happen.
My son Eric married Alice Syth Finley's daughter Corie and gave us a beautiful little grandaughter. She is now eight years old. Glen and I also have a daughter that has blessed us with three georgeous little grandaughters ages two,six and ten. Ofcoarse our grandchildren are just the cutest there ever was. Now I'm sure I'm not just a little predjudice either. We are fortunate to have them all living in the area so we spend every-bit of time possible having them around us.
Okay all you '65ers out there we would love to hear from you so lets start seeing more about what's been going on for the past 40 years and where you have all been.
From one ole Gramma here that would love to hear from you other Grandparents.

Ruthann Kiebert Nordgaarden

Okay,I think I have this figured out. I think this will be fun and am looking forword to hearing from others.

Ok,think I made it

Alright Marrianne,I think I finally have this figured out. This really will be fun if people will make use of it. So come everyone, lets start hearing from all you out there of and see how fun this really can be.

Linda Lunde signs in--- lnorlen@juno.com

So hard to believe that 40 years have passed since graduation. It doesn't seem like that long ago. I remember when my in-laws were talking of their 40th class reunion, and thinking "My, that is getting old!"

Now that I am there, I see it totally different. Life is so amazing.

See you at the reunion. Linda (Lunde) Norlen
Lnorlen@juno.com

Don't be Shy---It's me, Marianne again

It takes just a couple of brave people to get this started. You'll see after following instructions, that this is as easy as writing an email. You just have more options once you get to the inner sanctum.

I've heard from Chris Thompson, who's gonna look it over some more. I've urged Ruthann Kiebert Nordgaarden to put something on. So, I hope some brave souls will help me get this thing rolling. There will be a reward for the blog pioneers among our class!!!

Introduction to our Blog--Marianne Love--malove@imbris.net

Welcome to the SHS Class of 1965 Blog. I think this might be a great way for our classmates to stay in touch. So, let's give it a try.

First, all classmates can get into this blog by clicking on orange "Blogger" in upper left corner, then typing SHS1965 for the blog title and "Straley" for the password in the windows in the upper right corner.

Whenever you post an entry, type a short topic title, your name for identification, and your email address in the title line as shown on this post. Post as often as you wish, and edit your posts any time. You can correct mistakes after your posts are published at any time.

Since everyone shares the same password, we'll use the honor system. In other words, do not edit anyone's post except your own. If this should become a problem, we may have to tighten restrictions. Having the same password will allow any classmate to post at any time. There is also a program you can use to post pictures if you wish.

This can be as much fun as you make it. So, plan to visit often, to post often and especially to have fun catching up with your classmates.

Members of the class reunion committee will post information pertaining to the reunion throughout the existence of this blog. At this time, the most important information is that our 40th-year reunion is scheduled for July 29-30 this coming summer in beautiful Sandpoint. We intend to send out a preliminary letter within the next couple of weeks. For now, you can check www.sandpointonline.com for information about your home town and all it has to offer.

Your reunion committee includes Mike Parkins, Judy Chronic Dabrowski, Judie Hagadone Conlan, Donna Olson Coulter, Marianne Love, Lee Burnett, Gary Finney, Mike Rosenberger and Jim Miller.

We're still compiling our list of names and addresses. If you have an email address or snail mail address for a classmate, send it to us at malove@imbris.net or post it on this blog. We'll check it against the list and update if necessary.

Guess that's it for now. Get started and find out how easy and fun this can be. And look ahead to July 29-30 when we all gather in Sandpoint. If you have problems of any kind with this blog, send me an email at malove@imbris.net.

Good luck,
Marianne
