If yer scared to blog . . . . marianne

Howdy,
Ruthann and I are looking for some action, so here's another option if you've been checking in but a bit nervous about going through the posting process.

We just want to know that you're here, so go to the bottom of any daily posting to the "comments" section. Click on it. Then, you'll be asked for your user name which is shs1965 and your password, which is straley. Type those in the boxes and then click "post a comment" and start writing in the little box.

If you have something to say and don't know how to post it, send it to me by email, and I'll see that it gets on the blog with your name and email address.

I'll do this for anyone at any time. My address is malove@imbris.net.

Finally, if you spend some time figuring it out, you'll find that the process for posting is pretty simple. Hope to hear from you some way.
Marianne

Comments:
Okay, Marianne, you talked me into it. I live in Portland and haven't been back to Sandpoint in a long time. Is the lake still there? The only old Sandpointers that I stay in touch with are Gill (Bohan) Fahrenwald and Bob Anderson. My wife, Dianne, and I have been married for 36 years (I'm SO sick of her - just kidding). We have three growed-up children. One of our New Years resolutions is to concentrate on our really good friends, drop some existing commitments, and not make new commitments. So I'm not sure I should commit to going to the reunion. But I'll think about it.
Kip

Well, Kip, I hope you'll put the reunion on your list. Lots of folks, me included, will love to see you. By the way, you're six years ahead of Bill and me. Marianne

Marianne,
When I try to post a blog, they ask me to name the blog and supply a blog address. I put in http://shs1965.blogspot.com - and they tell me that is not a valid address. What am I doing wrong?
Kip

Hi, Kip,
Just type in shs1965 for user name and straley for password.

Once you've typed in straley a time or two, it remembers it for you.

I use Mozilla Firefox for a browser, so when I want to post a new entry, I click on the white B in the orange square on the left.

That gets me to the next page which has two windows in the top blue banner on the right. One asks for username; the other for password.

Once I've inserted those, I click the "sign in" window below them.

That gets me to the page with titles of two blogs. Ruthann mistakenly started a new blog, so her name appears there. Stay away from that and click shs1965.
That should get you to a page that lists all the entries and their titles.

You'll see a "create a new post" heading. Click on that, and you'll go to a clipboard page with a small skinny window on top and a big white box below it.

Title stuff goes in the small, skinny window and actual entry goes in the big box.

To see what you've written, you'll see "preview." Click that, and it should show you the title and entry as it sorta looks.

I look it over for errors or glitches and then click "hide preview" to do any editing. Above the clipboard, you'll see color palettes, type-size choices, etc. for dressing up its appearance.

You can't do anything creative with the title line, but I find that selecting "small" on the type is best and that it's a good idea to write short paragraphs--one or two sentences---and to skip a line between each. Makes it more inviting to the readers.

Once satisfied, click "preview" again and then hit Publish Post. You can view your post on the spot, but often you may have to wait half an hour or so to see it on the entire blog. Don't ask me why; guess it's the inner workings of the techno inner sanctum or something.

Also, remember that on any given day or time, you can return to any entry and edit it. Also, if you mistakenly put two entries when you really meant for just one, there's a delete option too.

Good luck.

If while you're figuring it out, you'd like me to post your first comment as a blog entry, I'll do it for you.
Thanks for giving this a try. I think when we get more people working at it, the blog will be oodles of fun.

Marianne

This is exciting Marianne. A good way to use tech to bring the minnions together. Unlike many of the 65 grads, I did a lot of exploring before marriage at age 31. Margo and I have been linked for 26+ years since we met in Bellingham, WA at the Univ. there. I was doing some post grad work in education to get Washington certification to teach. Our oldest, daughter Courtney, 23, is in Alaska working for the oil company. Son Stacy, 20, is in Bellingham attending WWU. They require lots of financial support so Margo and I keep teaching to bring home "bacon."
Sandpoint seems to get more recognition every day in the media as a shangrila for those who love scenery, recreation, and good food. I get weekly post cards from realtors like Parkins wanting to buy my small pieces of paradise. I have heard Bill Freudenthal's name a number of times on Seattle's KIRO radio for cars he sells for a local car dealer. I will try to track that down.

Dear SHS 1965 bloggers,
Munsons are scattered here and there but two remain in Sanpoint(sister Ellen Darling and brother Mark Munson) nestled on their lots up on the old family estate, now called Cedar Ridge Addition. Being the oldest, Paul, I get to celebrate a "40th" first. It has been great to see the excitement growing for the big shidig at the end of July.
I am in Rochester, Washington, a stones throw south of Olympia on I-5, exit 88. Anyone traveling that coastal beltway is welcome to stop by. With the kids gone we have lots of room. I and wife Margo have been here for over 25 years. I am doing my 30th year as a dedicated public servant (school teacher) and thinking of retirement every day! I think I know why 60% of us choose early retirement at 62.
My regular escapes to Sandpoint have dropped off the last few years but the place has grown in notoriety as a destination resort. I just put the web address for the Sandpoint Bee on my browser bar so I can keep up with some of the hot issues. No building inspections in Bonner Co....I never would have dreamed.
Anyone interested in cycling, bicycles. No, not Harleys that Miller and Finney ride; the ones you pedal for health and happiness. Ride to eat, eat to ride. I'd be willing to organize and lead a 20,30,40 mile ride if enough are interested. Let me know.
Paul "Muz" Munson
