Bios: George Massing, Bob Bandy

Thursday news:
The class reunion committee met last night; those attending included Mike Parkins, Mike Rosenberger, Judy Chronic Dabrowski, Dann Hall, Donna Olson Coulter and Marianne Brown Love.

We're finalizing arrangements for programs, venues, activities, etc. We're also noticing that a lot of you still need to send in your registration materials. As noted earlier, we did set a deadline, but if you haven't met that, please don't let it discourage you from signing up and coming to the reunion.

Several classmates are coming to their first reunion ever; others haven't been for 30 years, so it promises to be a fun time for reconnecting. Just remember that more than anything, we want to see you. So sign up and plan to come to Sandpoint July 29-30. We'll be thrilled to welcome you home!

Now for today's bios:

George Massing:
Since the last reunion, I have retired early and am still living in Maryland. I don't travel much but have no trouble at all staying busy . . . the tasks seem to expand to fill the time!

I retired early after working 27 years for Westinghouse and briefly Northrop Gumman after a company aquisition in 1996. I did electronic design work on military electronics . . . mostly power conditioning equipment for airborne applications. My biggest projects included the radar systems in the AWACS and F-16 aircraft.

I've remained in Maryland and have lived in the same house for 26-plus years. My favorite activities are reading---current events, military history, foreign policy, biographies and memoirs, and a few novels---and hiking. I belong to a small historical electronics museum and a hiking club. Most of my hiking is day hikes in nearby state and county parks and also some mountainous areas in Western Maryland.

I'm still "playing" with flight simulators on the PC and also with mapping software and GPS. I read some professional military journals and study various subjects like GPS and celestial navigation in some depth. I'm particularly interested in the history of technology.

I've managed to stay mostly-healthy, and I keep my weight down by doing a good bit of walking . . . and not too much eating!

I've attended the other three class reunions and am looking forward to this one too!!

Bob Bandy: We, Jeanette and I, have four kids---one son, three daughters. All four played sports in college and graduated: Bob, foootball at EWU; Angie, basketball and one year of track at University of Utah; Billie Jo, JV volleyball and track at Central Washington University; and Mindy, basketball and track at Whitworth College.

We also have four grandchildren.

Our son has returned to Wilbur, farming with me, so we've increased our operation to about 9,500 acres, including irrigation and dryland.

In my spare time, I enjoy hunting, fishing and golf.

Now, for more bios:

Fred Bair:
Hello, fellow graduates of SHS, Class of 1965,

Since 1995, I have gained another grandson. Now, I have one granddaughter (15) and two grandsons (12) and (8).

I lost my wife, Fay, to cancer in 2000 after nearly 34 years of marriage, moved ot Lewiston, Idaho, in 2000. With my son, I bought a place in Lewiston.

I retired June 1, 2002, and played golf (hacked), hunted and fished---sometimes all at the same time for about 14 months.
Got bored and went back to work. I now work with my brother, doing remodeling and/or building frame or log homes. We prefer log.

Today, if I am "home," it is in Lewiston. Mostly, I am on the road at some job site, bending nails. We could be in Idaho, Washington, Montana or Alaska, or wherever. We have worked on them as well in Tennessee and are prepared to do so again.

Hope to see you at the reunion. ---Fred

Sean Garvey: Summers in Spokane. Go to Arizona for winter---no snow.

Just enjoying life as best I can.

Happy Tuesday/ Bios: Steve Strecker, Gary Finney

Hello Classmates and Happy Tuesday from a rainy North Idaho. The rain gods are doing their best to keep it green here for your late July visit.

Special note: Because of anonymous postings, the password is no longer universal. If you have information, you wish to post on this blog, send it, with clear identification, to me at malove@imbris.net. Thank you for your understanding.

Also, once your bio appears on the blog, if you like your email address to appear with it, let me know, and I'll post it. In the interest of respecting your privacy, I'll only put addresses if classmates request them to be there.

Hope you've made your reservations and sent in your registration. The class reunion committee will be meeting this week to finalize more plans. In the meantime, here are more bios:

Steve Strecker: I am still managing an engineering and architectural office in Kennewick, Washington, and I'm still married to Linda.

We have seven grandchildren, five of which live here in the Kennewick/Richland area. Therefore, we spend a lot of time watching basketball, soccer, volleyball, and track.

Last year we bought a condo on a golf course, so we spend our other free time playing golf.

In 2000, I had a mechanical heart valve installed so I tick if you're near me. All in all, Linda and I have busy but peaceful life.

Gary Finney: There is no change in my status over the last ten years. I practice law in Sandpoint (for 34 years), but now my sons, John and Rex, are lawyers with me.

I have a farm on South Center Valley Road and raise Percheron Draft Horses.

My newest hobby is a 2003 Harley-Davidson Road King Classic.

Bios: Bonnie Spiller Stradley and Janis Puzuhanich Clarke

Bonnie Spiller Stradley: Curt and I have moved to the Beach (Long Beach Peninsula at Ocean Park, Washington). We retired in 2000, and we love the ocean.

We have 13 grandchildren---one more due in September. Our two kids are busy with these kids! Curt and I also became great-grandparents in April. Our oldest granddaughter is 19.

We are such a blessed family. We had five-generation pictures done with my mom and Curt's mom and dad.

Janis Puzuhanich Clarke: "Coming home" to Sandpoint and attending our 30th was transformational for me, and afterward, I made some major life change: resigned my stressful corporate commercial real estate career in L.A., moved back to the wide open spaces of Sheridan, Wyoming and enjoyed mending fences with my aging mom before she passed.

Did some traveling and several years later, I landed in Palm Desert, living year-round in my "winter" home.I'm still doing real estate, but it is totally different---residential: selling, buying, remodeling, flipping---and boarding my favorite dogs and doing administrative work for a glove importer.

A few years ago, I made a "new" connection with a longtime friend, Fred. He was the best man at my wedding in 1972, and we've been having more fun together ever since. Fred raised two girls and has a grandson, another on the way and two healthy, active and likable parents. So, I lucked out in the extended family department too.

Fred lives at the beach about two hours away, and we plan to retire together in a couple of years. We'll get a motor home and spend more time in all the places we love around the USA with our two pooches, Sadie and Skippy. For sure, we'll be around Sandpoint more.

Lesle (Oliver) and her husband Ed have a winter home just 12 minute from me in the desert. I love that we are still best buds and get to play together regularly.

Brother Gary Dunham can't make our reunion due to a family commitment. He is single and looking . . . anyone interested? He has aged Very Well, has a good job and a nice house in Tennessee, and still has an easy laugh. His email is GaryD37330@yahoo.com.

Can't wait to see all my old classmates. My years in Sandpoint are full of happy memories. Ask me about the "moon bow" in Yosemite last month.

Better late than never; let the bios begin: Jim Brockway

Yes, the deadline for sending in your reunion registration has passed, but don't let that stop you. Of course, we needed to set a date to inspire you, but we don't want you to panic if you haven't sent it in.

We will need your information soon, so that we can confirm numbers, especially for Saturday night's dinner-dance and for Dann's golf tournament. So, send it as quickly as you can. We want to see as many classmates as possible, so we remain flexible on this end.

As promised, classmate bios will begin appearing this weekend. Plan to read a few each day as they come in.

This morning's special feature is Jim Brockway who lives in Fairview, Oregon, where he operates a barbershop. Here's what Jim sent us:

After graduating, I attended the University of Idaho for a time. Later, I did contract welding all over the country until I injured my back and was unable to continue that type of work.

I have been self-employed for most of my life. I have a beautiful 25-year-old daughter named Lisa, who also resides in the Portland area.

I remarried in February of 2005. My wife (Sue) and I plan on retiring at the end of this year and explore living in Mexico.

Registration deadline--June 24

Just a reminder that the deadline for class reunion registration is this weekend. Donna Olson Coulter reports that about 25 classmates have sent in their information. We're figuring the bulk of them will arrive in the next few days.

Biographical information will begin appearing on this blog after the weekend. So, continue checking in.

Also, be sure to make reservations for accommodations early. Check www.sandpointonline.com for help in finding motels, hotels, other rentals, etc.
